Fish Oil Capsules

Everybody has heard of Omega-3 fish oils and their health benefits, and the most popular way of taking this supplement is in the form of fish oil capsules. If you aren’t already aware of the huge amount of benefits you can get from fish oils, let me bring you up to speed.

Fish oils are made up of Omega3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, these are essential to our health. They are found in all fish, not just oily fish such Mackerel and Sardines. Increasing the amount of fish that you eat will certainly make a difference, but you will have to eat an awful lot to feel the benefit. The cheapest and most convenient way is the fish oil capsule.

Fish oils are sourced from many different parts of a fish, and where they are taken from determines the stability. Fish oil from the liver is notoriously unstable as it isn’t high in natural antioxidants. This also means it has a shorter life span. Pure fish oil from the body of a fish as the most rigorous refining process, the high level of antioxidants makes for a much purer oil and it lasts a lot longer too.

As well as general health, fish oil can benefit many specific conditions. Sufferers from depression have reported a big upturn in their emotions since they started taking fish oil capsules on a regular basis. Fish oil with a high ratio of EPA makes them feel more content and generally lift their moods. This applies to all mood disorders; bi-polar, Chronic Fatigue syndrome and ME suffers all indicate an improvement in their condition.

Rheumatoid arthritis is another condition that fish oil is proven to alleviate the symptoms of. The EPA reduces blood clots and inflammation in the cardiovascular system.

Another thing to add to the list of benefits of fish oil capsules is healthy hair and nails. Due to a poor or restrictive diet, hair can become weak and stringy and nails can start to snap and flake. The omega-3 stimulates the hair follicles to promote thick, healthy, shiny hair. Nail growth is also stimulated so they are a lot stronger.

Check out the DHA/EPA ratio on the label when you buy your fish oil. The general ratio is 1.5, but if you are taking the fish oil capsules for a specific condition you may need a different ratio. Always consult your doctor if you need further advice.
